How to Play Weavr

Weavr is a browser-based game designed to keep remote teams engaged and connected. It’s a lighthearted way for teams to communicate, connect, and build a shared identity.

The game is designed to be played at work with your team. You and your coworkers will enter a virtual room and answer quick, fun questions about life, work, and each other with gifs and text.

How to get started

Register

Sign up to start playing Weavr. You can log in with your email, through Google, or Slack. Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be promoted to Create a new game.  Starting a new game generates a special room code to share with your teammates.
Pro tip: Weavr works particularly well in Google Chrome!

Invite your team
Share your special room code with 3-8 teammates. They’ll be prompted to quickly login. As members join the room, you’ll see their smiling faces. Once everyone has joined, press Start Game and off you go!

Weavr game basics

Players: 3-8 people
Time: 10-15 minutes

Gather

Round up 3-8 teammates and share your private room code. Everyone will be brought into the same game lobby and assigned a seat in the game.

Answer

The game consists of three rounds of prompts and questions about your team and work culture. At the beginning of each round, players anonymously answer two questions through either gif or short answer text.

Vote

After everyone has submitted their answers, players vote on the answers they like best for the prompt. It’s a bit like a duel, with two players facing off against each other in an attempt to acquire the most points. Each time someone votes for your answer, you score points.

Pro tip: Think about your audience when answering! What do your teammates think is funny? What do you know about each other that can make your answer stand out?

Tally

After each round, you’ll see a summary of scores. As the rounds progress, the amount of points you can win increases! After round three, the final scores are revealed and answers are emailed to all players for posterity (and reflection).

Then you can play again… and again!

When to play

Playing games at work might sound oxymoronic (unless your job is to test games), but Weavr is designed specifically for work-related scenarios! Here’s a short list of instances we’ve found Weavr to fit seamlessly into a team’s working rhythm:

  • Team meeting kickoff. Add some spice to the top of your team meeting by playing Weavr as a check-in. We guarantee it’s better than asking, “How are you?”
  • Before a retrospective. Weavr primes the room for an extended meeting where speaking, sharing, and feeling energized is highly important.
  • Onboarding. Getting to know new employees is difficult as is—adding in physical distance makes it feel even harder. Weavr has a specific prompt pack designed for onboarding new hires!
  • Cross functional fun. Strengthen employee connections outside of your immediate team by playing with coworkers you work with tangentially. There’s no better way to find out who appreciates a good Spongebob gif.
  • Take a break. Since Weavr isn’t time-consuming, teams can play whenever they feel they need to step back from deep work. Get away from the productivity tools and Slack messages for a minute and have some fun.
